Union Hospital Family Medicine Residency (UHFMR) Program Director, Dr. Paul Daluga, was honored as the recipient of the Indiana Rural Health Association's (IRHA) Education Award at the 2013 Annual Conference. The Dr. Paul Dalugaaward, given annually, recognizes an outstanding individual, organization, company, governmental unit or other entity that has contributed to the knowledge and development of our future rural health providers, communities and/or individuals. Dr. Daluga has been in a faculty role with the residency for 19 years, serving in the capacity of program director since 2005. In his time at UHFMR Dr. Daluga has helped to train 121 family medicine doctors, many of whom have gone on to serve in rural areas.

Dr. Daluga will retire at the conclusion of this year. The individual who nominated him had this to say about Dr. Daluga's contributions to rural health care through education:

"Through Dr. Daluga's educational contributions to the rigorous medical training of each of these providers, thousands of rural patients, in the United States and abroad, are now receiving quality health care that would have otherwise not been available to them."
